Email from a citizen of Adler Nation…Matthew his name:
Charles,
Somehow I think this may be on our national radar today...
That the protesters were able to get Coulter's University of Ottawa speaking engagement canceled gives her right-wing rhetoric truth and relevance.
We've all seen that conservative/liberal joke on the internet;
A conservative who doesn't like guns doesn't own a gun and doesn't hang around people who own guns.
A liberal who doesn't like guns will ban everyone from owning guns.
A conservative who doesn't like religion won't go to church.
A liberal who doesn't like religion will ban religion from all aspects of life.
And so on, describing many aspects of life in Politically-Correct Canada.
And now we can add:
A conservative that doesn't like right-wing rhetoric won't listen to it.
A liberal that doesn't like right-wing rhetoric will ban anyone from listening to it.
That those protesters call themselves "Canadian" makes me embarrassed to be "Canadian".
Matthew
In a moment folks, I will ask you whether the protesters embarrassed us as Canadians…
Now From a Right Wing Blog known as Right Wing News...in this interview John Hawkins says to Ann Coulter, You've caught a lot of heat for a couple of quotes you made. In your column three days after 9/11, you said, "We know who the homicidal maniacs are. They are the ones cheering and dancing right now. We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." You also said in an interview with the New York Observer, "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building." Do you stand by those quotes or do you think that perhaps you should have phrased them differently?
Ann Coulter: Ozzy Osbourne has his bats, and I have that darn "convert them to Christianity" quote. Some may not like what I said, but I'm still waiting to hear a better suggestion.
RE: McVeigh quote. Of course I regret it. I should have added, "after everyone had left the building except the editors and reporters."
Now if you pursue a line of questioning with Ann Couulter and ask do you really want the U.S. to invade all the countries of the Arab world and kill all their leaders and convert them all to Christianity...she will say no she just wants to draw you into a conversation and the conversation she wants to draw you into is the mindset of the Global Militant Islamic movement Sometimes known as Global Jihad which wants to invade all the countries of the western world and convert everyone to Islam...See she wants to make you feel something, wants to make you feel what the other side is really all about...wants to do satire, wants to use irony, wants to have a conversation about things controversial...Is she Hate Monger?
Do I personally think this is the most constructive way to have a conversation? NO...it is however if you are wanting to sell a lot of books and get a lot of appearances on TV especially if you’re telegenic as she is and it always gets you a lot of invitations to University Campuses…Yesterday was the first time after hundreds of campus appearances that the show did not go on...and that is embarrassing for Canada.
Let me roll a couple of minutes of Ann Coulter in an interview where she wasn't flirting with the idea of offending Liberas or Muslims...This time it was Jews...She was in a Conversation with a Talk Host for CNBC at the time who is best known as a big time advertising guru from New York City...his name Donny Deutch...Listen HERE.
Now would the administration at the University of Ottawa and the students council think that Ann Coulter is Anti-Jewish, Anti-Semitic...Was she practicing hate speech on Donny Deutsch...He was offended...The Bnai Brith Anti-Defamation League also said they were offended. What did she say? What has she said about Jews? She has said they wish they would be perfected and convert to Christianity. She has been called anti-semitic for saying that. Others have said that's ridiculous. Ann Coulter has called herself a perfected Jew. That's precisely how many Christian theologians see Christianity. Dave Gordon, a Jewish writer, wrote about this in the National post three years ago writing about the book of Romans where Paul talks about the natural branches on the tree being Jewish and then the Gentiles being grafted onto the Israelite Tree and Gordon is among many who have said The Sermon on the Mount preached by Jesus is right out of Talmudic Jewish teachings telling Jews to love their fellow man. Nobody disputes that Jesus was a Jew. According to Christian Theology, Christianity is a perfected form of Judaism and that is why the Old Testament is included in the Bible, perfected from a Christian perspective by the New Testament. That is why some of Israel's strongest supporters, much to the chagrin of some liberal Jews, happen to be Evangelical Christians.
Why do I go down this road? I go down this road because I believe that sometimes Ann Coulter goes too far in making her point. In talking about invading countries and converting them to Christianity she goes too far in making the point that the war is against Islam and the only way to wipe out the threat is to wipe out the religion. You don't have to be a Muslim to understand why that would feel hateful. You don't have to be a Christian or a Jew to know that when Osama Bin Laden and various imams talk about wiping out the so-called Crusaders, meaning Christians and the Zionists, meaning Jews. You don't have to be a Christian or a Jew to know that it is not only hateful speech. It's buttressed by homicidal behavior. It's meant to be taken seriously. Is Ann Coulter meant to be taken seriously? Does anyone listening to this broadcast think of Ann Coulter and Usam Bin Laden as the same ilk? Does anyone think of Ann Coulter as simply Usam Bin Laden without the hairy legs? Does anyone think of Ann Coulter as a mass murderer? I keep saying this because despite the best efforts of David Suzuki and others to have us think of ourselves as nothing more than maggots who simply eat and multiply and defecate, I think that what separates us from the maggots is the ability to think. Was the Provost of the University of Ottawa thinking straight when he threatened Ann Coulter with criminal prosecution. Do we want to got through page after page of the Garbage that is peddled on universities against identifiable groups. That would these days include Israel seen on many campuses as the baddest of the bad countries that needs to be dealt with. That's what Israel Apartheid Week is about. Portray the Israelis as a society that wants to deprive its significant minorities of rights. Does anyone want to ask the question, Which country in the middle east do Arabs have a right to organize unions, get minimum wage, get legal aid, quality health care, public housing, and have a standard living significantly higher than Arabs living in the four of the countries bordering Israel and that would be Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt --How many of the more than a million Arabs who are citizens of Israel are leaving Israel for those other countries? How many of them are forced to serve in the Israeli Armed forces. That would be zero. Only Jews have to serve in the Israeli military. Some kind of apartheid. I tell you this because it's not talked about by those Anti-Israeli and Anti-Semitic scholars who preach hatred against Israel and its supporters on Canadian university campuses without fear of letters from University Administrators. Rather they are encouraged by university administrators.
How about free enterprise sometimes known by that word that is considered so vial and dirty by so many who teach on many university campuses - capitalism. Do I have to give anybody listening to this broadcast chapter and verse about how Capitalism is despised by so many on campus...How about the Energy Industry. Big Oil...Dirty Oil...dirty dirty oil. Campus lecturers can't say that enough. And does it incite some people to attack the energy industry. You know it does. When they attack the industry rhetorically or criminally are they affecting people. Well of course they are. Has anyone gotten a letter from a University adminstrator, saying Hey cut the crap with all this hatred toward hard working Canadians working in Canada's Oil Patch...
Do some people see evil in Ann Couulter's points. No doubt. But I believe that there is something supremely evil about a kind of political correctness that is creating the kind of National embarrassment this country suffered last night.
Police in the Nation's Capital couldn't secure on a University campus the opportunity for a media personality from New York to spend a couple of hours with a couple of university students to discuss Political Correctness. You want to talk about Irony? Those protesters and the University of Ottawa helped illustrate Ann Coulter's point last night better than Ann Coulter ever could. No need for interpretation or explanation. It was black and white. It was brutal. It was the threat of violence to keep her from speaking. It was the jackboot. It was the brown shirt. It was the burning cross...Pick your favorite symbol of intimidation and opression and that's what was delivered to an American guest by Canadian students.
It's a good thing we didn't have a hostage crisis last night because it was starting to look like Tehran on the Rideau.
I'm Charles Adler on the Corus Radio Network.

My heart bleeds peanut butter for Ann Coulter.
Her comments about Canada & just about everything in general are just phenomenally dumb!
Let's face it, the American Right currently is led by a bunch of psychopaths. The Tea Partyers are at the forefront of this insanity. Coultergeist, Billo, Limbaugh & Sarah Palin with this "Let's reload" bit only pour more gas on the fire!

Charles, the non event was cancelled by none other than the coward herself and her people.Don`t blame Canadians and Police for this..What I want to know is who even invited the witch here to begin with?.She has nothing to tell us other than she may have a new book for sale. How does a bigotted nitwit like this person earn a living by just yapping on every subject as if she were an expert ? This is nothing to do with free speech and a mere ripple in the big pond of life. Ann Coulter , go home and stay there.

Speakers at Canadian Universities should be from the intellectual community. I don't think Ann Coulter meets the criteria. Congratulations to the students in Ottawa for keeping her from soiling their fine institution.

I spoke my mind. I dislike Ann Coulter. I'm embarrassed. Tonight I wear my hair shirt.

My you please explain how somebody that tells a Muslim female student to ride a camel instead of fly on a plane has anything to do with political correctness and freedom of speech?
From what I know, the protests at UofO were a reaction to that comment and not in opposition to freedom of speech like you're trying to portray on your show.

You are bang on Charles, I was not embarassed to be Canadian, but was upset at these moronic students for not allowing me the opportunity to hear what Ann had to say. Let me be the judge, 120,000 Canadian service men died in the last 90 years. They died for freedom and free speech. Thank God Ann has opened up the debate in this age of political correctnes.

...i began studying left vs right political rhetoric some twenty years ago, and virtually every day since i have been led to one inescapable, inarguable conclusion: the left preaches hope, the right preaches hate.
has conservatism become the refuge of white, heterosexual, english-speaking males who believe they are superior to anyone who is not a white, heterosexual, english-speaking male?
or has it always been thus?
the left is far from perfect.
but the fact that left wing values like hope, compassion, human rights, equality, peace, non-violence, tolerance and understanding are constantly disparaged, mocked, ridiculed and labelled by the right is highly instructive.

If you don't like Ann's hyperbole and humour don't go to her speech. If you don't want to hear her right wing Christianity based talk don't go. If you want to stay in your sterile politically correct little world where anyone who does not agree with you is a racist stay there but do not push your intolerance and bigotry on any one else. I have the right to listen to Ann Coulter just as much as she has a right to speak. The only ones spewing hatred and violence were the U of O and the students protesting.

Hello Charles
Perhaps you've moved on from the U of Ottawa story but I just want to add my take.
The Slapping Babies and Kicking Puppies Tour that is the series of Ann Coulter speaking engagements, demonstrates to me that she was, at one time, extruded from the same anal cavity as Larry Flint. Both employ shock value to drive their points of view, then relish in the inevitable reactions of those within earshot.
I'm dissappointed with Mr. Levants involvment in this tour. It really does appear to me that this is his way of striking back at the Human Rights Commission. In part, I agree with his desire to exact some revenge, or payback if you will. I just wish he'd align himself with someone or something that doesn't stink as bad as this blood sucking python from hell.
Thank-you for providing a forum to vent.
Best Regards

I believe we are coming to a tipping point, where enough clear thinking people will have had enough of this...Mind you, the hardcore left's tenticles into the schools and universities keeps churning out more and more people espousing diversity for all. The left touts diversity as a advantage. I 'd like someone to give me some absolute examples of how this advantage of promoting diversity equates to an advantage

Was it that there were no interesting issues to talk about that you got interested in Ann Coulter? Must be a slow night.
Yes I did lsten to the Donny Deutch interview, and the more reason to forget about this non-event.
You are doing the Canadian thing of dropping your pants in front of a little controversy, or you're just getting paid to stir s...

Simon, it would have been much fairer if the left wing media had played the TEN MINUTES of Ann's speech between the ridiculous question and the ride the camel remark. One had nothing to do with the other and was nothing more than deception on the media's part. Get the facts straight.

David Henman says the left is great and the right is evil...wow! Guess the Berlin Wall never happened , no killing fields in Cambodia, supression of rights and freedoms by the Soviets in Eastern Europe never existed, Mao and Che Gueverra were saints. 100 million people have died under the left's socialism / communism. You need to go back to school and study instead of being another left wing thug protestor

...given your ignorant and misinformed comments, chuck, its not me who needs to go back to school.
